Samsung Galaxy S2 Android Screen Capture

This morning, there were some photos on my gallery that I did not capture or download. I checked it out and realized it’s a screenshot of my display. I know I can only do this on Android if I connect the phone to my PC. So how did it get there? I’m sure it’s a screen capture of my phone because of the background and the way the widgets are positioned.

A New Phone for my Birthday

I said earlier that Samsung Galaxy S II is not exactly the phone for me. It’s too big at 4.2inches, too high-end and too-expensive. I also said that I’m waiting for the Asian version of Samsung Galaxy Z which is a more affordable version of the GS2. Guess what, I’m chomping on what I said before because I’m now a proud owner of Samsung Galaxy S II.

How did it happen? StarHub dangled a carrot on me in a form of a $100 voucher in exchange of collaring me for another two years on their network. And that comes with a free phone I choose. Suddenly, the GS2 became more affordable. And then it was my birthday. The next thing I knew, I was swiping my debit card.

So how do I find the phone? Man, it’s awesome. It’s a dream phone. Dare I say, it’s much, much better than iPhone 4. I’ll give a quick review later. One thing I can say is that it’s more than worth the price.

Samsung Galaxy S-II on StarHub

I don’t know what took them long but finally, the sequel to Galaxy S brand has arrived. The actual product name is Samsung GALAXY S II i9100 (16GB). That’s quite a mouthful. The size of the internal memory is decent. I’m not sure if Samsung will release a 32GB version but 16GB would be enough for me already. My current phone, HTC Desire, only has 4GB in it. I already maxed it out, though.

HTC Wildfire and HTC Legend Finally on Froyo

HTC has released an update via FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) for the HTC Wildfrire and HTC Legend. The said phones will be receiving the 2.2 version of Android. It has been a long while before HTC was able to release it to its clients but at least, the update is not available. However, version 2.3 has just arrived and these two phones are now one version late again with 2.4 looming in the background.

After installation, you can verify the successful update by confirming that the Build Number reads “2.24.707.1.” for the HTC Wildfire and “3.15.707.3.” for the HTC Legend respectively (From the Home Screen, go to MENU> Settings> About phone> Software Information> Build number). Android version should also reflect “2.2” at the top of the Software Information screen.

Meizu M9 Released to the Wild

It’s like iPhone4 and Galaxy S fused together. Some say it’s a bastard son of iPhone4 and Galaxy S. Actually, it’s not the looks that resembles parts of the two phones but also the things that runs this phone. For one, it also uses the 3.5in 960×640 resolution screen that’s the same as those used in iPhone 4. It is rumored that it’s also being made by Shard ASV. On the processor side, it is the same as the one used in Galaxy S which is the 1GHz S5PC110 processor. And on top of all the other standard features, this beast has GSM, GPRS, EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA,and HSUPA all rolled into one device. That’s a huge thing! And on top of all these is the Android 2.2 with custom Meizu UI (User Interface). I wouldn’t be surprised if this will be upgraded to Gingerbread(2.3) sooner than later.
